So, I am currently reading this very interesting book by John Krakauer about Mormon fundamentalism. The amount of welfare dollars and other federal funds that go to these isolated polygamous communities out in the desert is shocking. The way young girls are traded around as wives is even more horrifying. I cannot believe how willing our government is to back down in cases of organized child abuse just because someone claims it as a religion. It’s disgusting.

Something else that is disgusting in a different way is how much freaking snow we are getting. This really frightening feeling crept over me as I was driving home yesterday afternoon. I felt like I was driving into a white void as visibility was nil. I decided then and there, that when I have my own place someday, there will not be any large expanses of white anything.

I guess I am just writing about things that disgust me today. Miss Kitty’s grandma made sauerkraut yesterday and I find the smell of this cabbage concoction to be among the worst smells ever—right up there with bananas in my world. Maybe I have overly developed olfactory senses as a result of spending my first 10 years near all that radiation in Los Alamos. Grandma offered me some and I quickly replied “hell no.” She seemed offended at my offended nose. Between her cooking and her reluctance to flush the toilet after she pees, she has turned the house into a circus of bad smells.

Well here’s a quick list of other things and people I find irritating, frightening and/or disgusting: Howard Dean, George Bush, bananas, reptiles kept as pets, huge vehicles for small families, spam, the zits/gray hairs combo, I am going to be 30 in less than 6 months and I don’t really know what I want to do for a living.
