skinny pants
2003-10-28 @ 4:56 p.m.

I don’t know if I have much to say today. I guess we’ll see. I was feeling kind of headachy and tired yesterday after work and I just wanted to go home, but I forced myself to go to the gym where I realized that I had forgotten a sports bra, so I said “fuck it” and went home. I went to the gym early this morning. I have noticed something about the mornings at the gym—the old ladies are always hanging around getting in my way then. Some of them are really nice, but I’m generally not in the mood for a chat in the morning and I am rushing to get to ready to go to work. I am a big meanie for so many reasons.

We went over to another building in the complex to check out a potential new office as we are fairly cramped in the one we inhabit right now. As we were leaving, my boss looked at me from behind and told me that I needed to buy some skinny pants. Just a few months ago—these were my skinny pants. I asked her to turn me into What Not To Wear so I could get a new wardrobe, but I don’t think she would go for it. That’s okay. I think I want to lose another few and one more size anyway.

Trivia Linda called me today to ask if I wanted to go to a lecture on antidepressants by one of the psychiatrists from the hospital tomorrow night. I am a total nerd for many reasons, but for drugs in particular. I should have gone into drug research because I really like learning about the whole physiological underpinnings of psychopharmacology. Poor Julio listened to my explanation of specific serotonin reuptake inhibitors (like Prozac) on the phone the other night. He said all the big words were sexy and he may well have meant it, but it’s in his best interest to say that. I bought a really cool book a couple of years ago called From Chocolate to Morphine by Dr. Andrew Weil who I used to love, but I am a little perturbed with right now. He’s done some advocating of the cannabis and I have a hard time respecting a health professional who does that. Marijuana may not be the demon it’s portrayed as, but it sure isn’t healthy. I digress, the book is very interesting and it covers all kinds of psychoactive substances.

Well, I’m about out of time.

Love to all.
