2003-10-02 @ 3:31 p.m. Well, so far I am definitely liking the Sonicare. My teeth already seem a little whiter to me. That can’t be a bad thing. Yes Lotus, it was a bit pricey—I think I paid around $70 for it, but I laid it away so it was a little easier. That does seem like an awful lot for a toothbrush, but I figure if it keeps me from losing teeth or having any more holes in the teeth I have left (okay, so I have only had to get one crown, but that was traumatic enough), then it’s definitely worth it. I don’t know what God was thinking giving children the teeth they would have for the rest of their lives. I guess it worked out okay when people only lived to about 25, but I really think now that we should be able to get a third set of teeth in our 30s. Of course, it would be really strange to see thirtysomethings with big gaps like when they were 7. So last night I went out with the lady who works at the gym and several of her friends. I had a good time, but the conversation started to revolve around people I didn’t know and situations I wasn’t privy to and so I took my leave. I got home, showered and ate a piece of toast (I didn’t eat any dinner) and then settled in to watch some television in my basement lair. Polyester sprang off the couch and came down to share every freaking detail of his life. He was even complaining to me about how his parents never made it to any of his track meets in high school. He’s 27 years old for crying out loud. Thank goodness Julio called and saved me from dying of boredom and disgust. Julio and I did some plotting, some scheming, and some planning. Well, he claims that I am the scammer, but he’s wrong. This morning I had to go to a meeting about natural gas. The point of the meeting was to give social service providers (like me) and idea of how to help people who are struggling to pay their gas bill. The gas company has all of these programs that seem pretty good. One of the programs will even allow a person to be forgiven a big debt if they consistently make small payments based on their income. In the past year or so, I have finally grasped what it means to be a bleeding heart liberal. This one woman was complaining that if someone messes up on that program where their debt is forgiven and doesn’t make a payment, they get shut off and then their kids get taken away –blah blah blah. Okay, so I’m thinking about how many freaking services and how much help should we have to give someone for them to be able to care for themselves. I just don’t think that people should be allowed to keep their children if they are constantly going to require someone to remind them to clean their house, buy food and pay their gas bill. I get so disgusted. Well, I guess that’s all from here. Love to all.
