Isabel’s outermost tendrils
2003-09-18 @ 4:52 p.m.

I wish I knew what to write about. Everyone here is obsessed with hurricane Isabel. She’s supposed to get here tonight. Many of the cities south of here have canceled school for tomorrow. I hope it doesn’t cause too much damage, but on the whole, I think it’s pretty cool.

I got an email from Stone last night. He was wondering why he hadn’t heard from me and if something was wrong. I wrote back and told him that I would try to reach him tonight. I do like him, but I don’t want to deceive him. I’m not feeling particularly invested in anything here. I feel my thoughts leaving this place more and more. I guess I will tell him that I am 95% certain that I am leaving and just let him decide whether he wants to continue.

Miss Kitty was on her way to visit her husband today. I really hope that she did indeed get to see him. This will be the first visit they have had since late June. She was all agitated last night and it didn’t really dawn on me until bedtime why she was so frenetic. I tried to reassure her that everything would be okay. She was dressed up and weepy this morning when she left the house.

She told me that she wanted to have a Home and Garden Party next month and asked me to invite my mom. I feel mean about this, but I just don’t want to do it. I hate those parties. I hate the stuff. I hate that the only parties anyone has around here are to sell something. I hate that last year I took care of everything for the party and I was the only person who got nothing. I’m over it, but I won’t let it happen again. If she wants the party, she can take care of the details. I’ve decided that I am morally opposed to such parties. I’m hoping that she lets it drop, but if she doesn’t, I will say something.

Well, I can’t think of much else. Isabel’s outermost tendrils are reaching their grasp around and it’s getting darker. I hope that the heavy stuff doesn’t start until late.

Love to all.
