The office manager comes back tomorrow
2003-09-08 @ 12:51 p.m.

Well, it’s Monday and I am alone again—at least until 2:00 when my boss is supposed to come in. I’m not really sure what is worse—alone or alone with the boss. The office manager comes back tomorrow, thank God.

I had a pretty good weekend. I talked to my mom on Friday and she told me that the results of the CAT scan showed just a worsening of the already existent emphysema in my stepdad. It’s not really fair of me, but I am angry with my stepdad for continuing to smoke even after his aneurism and the diagnosis of emphysema.

I went to karate class even though I felt completely wiped. I have been so freaking tired lately, but I think I have figured that out. Anyway, karate went okay even still. I have a belt test in two weeks. I guess I am going for green. I just hope I have the cash for the belt test—karate is very expensive. I figure that it’s around $340 a year with paying for the classes and a few belt tests a year and that didn’t even include my uniform, membership fee and my monthly gym fee. No wonder I’m feeling poor.

I also talked with Stone on Friday night. He was heading to a race in Virginia. He asked me to go to a baseball game next Friday and I really wanted to go, but I also need to be at karate class to learn everything for my belt test. Stone was disappointed, but he seemed like he understood.

On Saturday, Miss Kitty and I headed for the flea market. I have been rather disappointed in the flea markets this year. I did buy a set of Russian nesting dolls from a real Russian. There were several really pretty sets—one had like 15 that started at 10” tall and went down to the size of a pinhead. That set was $95 –I got a much smaller, more in my price range set. After the flea market, I went home and took a nap. When I woke up, I decided to make pizza from scratch. I made a good dough with regular and rye flours. I did all the necessary work of bread with the kneading and the rising and such. I baked the crust a little before topping it to make sure that it would not be doughy. I topped it and put it in to bake. I could not find a pan with sides and mine are packed away so, I used a cookie sheet. The pizza was ready to come out of the oven as Miss Kitty arrived home from taking her grandmother out grocery shopping. As I pulled the pan from the oven, the pizza began to slide. Time slowed as I tried to save the fiery hot pie from falling to the floor. Everyone reacted in slow motion as I teetered this way and that trying to slide the pizza back onto the pan. Sadly, I was unsuccessful in my attempts to save the pizza. I fell down beside my ruined creation and laughed as I held the empty pan in the air. Miss Kitty and I giggled as we scooped up hot pizza and wiped sauce from the floor and cabinet. Polyester ordered a pizza and went out to get it.

Yesterday was rather uneventful. I slept in, watched some television, went to the gym and the grocery store and then took another nap. I have decided that what is wrong with me is yeast. I was reading an article and it talked about how you can have a systemic yeast infection. I don’t mean just the girly kind on commercials that guys hate (that can be a symptom though), but rather a broader scale infection that goes throughout your body and can cause a bunch of symptoms like fatigue, poor concentration, depression, low grade fevers, sinus problems, muscle and joint aches and all kinds of stuff. It develops as a result of antibiotic use, oral contraceptives and too many refined carbohydrates—things that kill off good bacteria and/or feed the yeast. So, maybe this is all just a bunch of hooey, but I just don’t think that it is—it seemed to explain a lot of the problems I have had the past couple of years. I guess we’ll see.

Well, I guess that’s all for now.

Love to all.
